    The Opportunity  

    The Social Enterprise Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the success of daily operations for CEO’s transitional work crews/sites in local office. The Social Enterprise Operations Manager will train and coach Senior Site Supervisors and Site Supervisors in this region to be effective leaders and mentors. With the assistance of the Social Enterprise Operations Associate, he/she will coordinate with Fleet Management to maintain tools and equipment, coordinate with Talent and HR to ensure that all positions are filled with qualified Site Supervisors, oversee all administrative paperwork for crew contracts and invoicing, and assist the Director of Social Enterprise and transitional work crew customers in maintaining quality crews. Distinguish successfully between situations in which established protocols apply, those in which one must exercise independent judgment, and those that need input from manager or senior leadership.

    The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people with recent criminal convictions. Across the United States, over 6,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

    What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 25,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996. In 2016, CEO embarked on a 5-year strategic plan to grow to serve 9,000 participants annually.

    Who You Are   

    • You have a valid Driver’s License and ability to travel 
    • You have experience in general labor, maintenance, operating site equipment including landscaping and 15-passenger vans with trailers attached
    • You have 3 years experience in managing teams, and operational oversight. 
    • You have experience training and developing staff into strong performers who consistently meet expected performance goals
    • You are comfortable with technology, including Google Suite and Salesforce, and have the ability to navigate computer programs to manage day to day operations
    • You have the ability to work effectively under pressure and at a sustained pace, managing to partner expectations while maintaining focus on objectives despite setbacks or opposition
    • You are organized and efficiently able to prioritize competing needs in a fast-paced environment
    • You are a strong communicator; able to adapt and tailor your communication style to meet the needs of and influence varying constituents
    • You demonstrate respect, fairness, patience and efficiency to participants, employees and others
    • You have the ability to lead Site Supervisor teams to:
        • Fully staff all crews with appropriate numbers of participants and site supervisors
        • Ensure the timely submission and reporting of all internal and external documentation (incident reports, write-ups, checks bag counts, etc)
        • Collaborate with Senior Site Supervisors and Director to understand individual Site Supervisor strengths and address essential areas of development

    Major Responsibilities 

    Key responsibilities of the Social Enterprise Operations Manager include but are not limited to:   

    Site supervisor development and performance management

    • Monitor and evaluate Site Supervisor job performance while providing individualized instruction, training, coaching and feedback to ensure performance improvement and productivity
    • Travel between crew sites in to support the Site Supervisors and Senior Site Supervisors in sustaining quality transitional work crews
    • Build team and environment of collaboration with Site Supervisors across sites, disciplined pursuit of team goals and builds goodwill by fostering communication, cooperation and celebration
    • Ensure unionized Site Supervisors are managed according to the rules of collective bargaining agreement in place
    • Ensures crews meet customer and contract work expectations (inclusive but not limited to staffing, attendance, work product)
    • Ensures CEO Participants report job/professional skill growth as a result of Social Enterprise Experience
    • Ensures adherence to all CEO Policies and Procedures (inclusive of all policies related to safety, compliance, insurance, etc)
    • Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend plans to improve on an ongoing basis
    • Monitor crew fielding rates, PTS scores and other data as necessary
    • Manage the recording and tracking of all crew data (performance, safety, etc) 

    Daily Deployment of Crews (Relevant only to CA sites)

    • Support the oversight and administration of staff schedules and work assignments, ensuring assignments are completed in a timely manner and with quality 
    • Ensure daily timesheets are filled out accurately and completely 
    • Track and monitor supply inventory for work crews and assist Site Directors in managing crew needs and assessing the condition of all equipment for work site readiness
    • Manage staff and participant attendance to ensure contract compliance with staffing

    Inventory Management (Relevant only to CA sites)

    • Manage inventory and place orders for supplies as needed
    • Keep supplies and equipment clean, operable, well-stored, and sufficient
    • Keep updated all documents including procedure print-outs in vans and registration paperwork
    • Ensure fleet and equipment are in good working order

    Social Enterprise Staff Management 

    • Assures all crews are in compliance with CEO policies and procedures
    • Leads recruitment, hiring and training of Senior Site Supervisors
    • Ensures Senior Site Supervisor and Lead Site Supervisor professional development and growth including technical expertise, Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered management
    • Delegates of daily activities to staff and follows up on tasks
    • Conducts weekly 1-1s with direct reporting staff

    Crew operations and administrative management

    • Serve as an internal liaison between CEO’s participant scheduling department, vocational staff, regional operations and other CEO staff
    • Create and maintain systems around transitional work to support the administration of work assignments and increase effectiveness of operations
    • Track and monitor supply inventory for work crews and assist Director in managing crew needs
    • Ensure the quality completion of all site supervisor paperwork and documentation required for contracts and internal policies 

    Partnership Management

    • Serves as the lead contact between CEO and work site partners
    • Monitors quality control of client engagements on crew
    • Attends partner meetings as needed
    • Owns reporting for all Social Enterprise partners, as necessary

    Compensation and Benefits  

    The salary range for this position is $80,000-88,000. In an effort to be both equitable and transparent, CEO's compensation philosophy considers a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, internal equity, and home office location in making a final determination on our salary offer.
