We're committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business GENERAL SUMMARY The Operations Director is directly accountable for the management of Operations activities involving the safe, reliable, economic, and effective operation of Columbia Generating Station. The position interfaces frequently with the Energy Northwest Senior Leadership team, outside regulatory agencies, Executive Board, Nuclear Oversight Board and various station managers. The interface involves issues such as overall plant performance, performance indicators, regulatory issues, INPO issues, nuclear safety issues, and bargaining unit issues. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES •Assure that Operations activities are performed safely, efficiently, and professionally by leading and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, approved procedures, operating license, technical specifications, and Energy Northwest policies. Within these constraints, the Operations Manager directs and manages plant operations to generate power at the lowest reasonable cost consistent with safety, efficient utilization of nuclear fuel, and regional costs. •Assure the adequacy of Operations processes by managing development and monitoring effectiveness. Optimize plant safety, efficiency, and reliability by implementing the appropriate processes or plant changes obtained from industry operating experience, regulatory and industry publications, improvement initiatives, and benchmarking activities. •Maintain an organization which functions safely and effectively through the selection of well qualified and diverse staff. The Operations Manager accomplishes objectives through plant personnel. Success rests on the ability to lead and resolve personnel problems which could adversely impact employee performance. Use plant and support resources to assure continuous, safe plant operation. This includes the assurance that conservative decision making governs all efforts taken to deal with off-normal and emergency conditions. •Maximize plant capability factor through clearly communicated priorities and high standards of accountability in all organizations supporting Operations. Assure the appropriate priorities are established and implemented to support safe and efficient plant operations through regular monitoring of plant activities and through the daily leadership meeting. •Oversee the Operations Training Program to ensure it meets all accredited training requirements. •Maintain qualification in the Emergency Response Organization. •Assure that Operations performance information, budgetary needs, and support organization requirements are clearly committed and adhered to. REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE •Must meet regulatory experience requirements for a nuclear power plant Operations Manager, including FSAR, Technical Specifications, and ANSI requirements which include: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university and 10 years work experience in the operating organizations at a commercial nuclear power plant; OR an associate’s degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university and 14 years work experience in the operating organizations at a commercial nuclear power plant; OR a high school diploma or GED and 18 years work experience in the operating organizations at a commercial nuclear power plant; •Must currently hold, or previously held an SRO license or certification. Pay Range $164,678.00 - $247,018.00 Annual Midpoint: $205,848.00 Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances. Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications. Incentive Compensation This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
