Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineer serves as contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. The Space Dynamics Laboratory is seeking a motivated student to work as a safety and health assistant. Responsibilities will include coordinating the chemical safety data sheet (SDS) inventory and updating and maintaining this database, periodic calibration of oxygen monitoring systems, and checking AEDs, crane-use logs, and other equipment under the purview of the Safety office. Additional responsibilities will include performing sampling for chemical and physical hazards, writing reports, logging in and tracking hazardous waste, and assisting with maintaining the Emergency Response program, drills, and personnel training. Work may also include providing health and safety training for employees. The selected candidate will also serve in a reserve role for emergency response, during and after regular work hours.
