Env., Health, and Safety Engineer jobs in Rochester, MN

Env., Health, and Safety Engineer implements and maintains company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineer is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineer serves as contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be an Env., Health, and Safety Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Enviromental Health and Safety Intern

  • The EHS Intern will be a champion for safety and compliance in the workplace.  Key duties of the position will include program development and rollout, safety training review and development, documentation review and filing.

     

     Specific responsibilities include the following:

    • Perform job hazard analysis (JHA) in all departments, review findings, and develop suggestions based on the findings.
    • Assist with roll out of behavioral based observations program and corresponding training in all departments.
    • Review, update, and develop employee safety training.
    • Review, update, and organize Toolbox Safety Talks.
    • Review and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) based on updated chemical inventory.
    • Update production floor safety boards.
    • Assist with regular safety, environment, and compliance audits on the production floor.
    • Assists with other duties as assigned.

     

     Requirements:

    • Pursuing a 4-year bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, sustainability, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or other related degree program.
    • Basic experience/understanding of safety.
    • Basic math and statistical skills.
    • Organized and self-directed; strong attention to detail and quality.
    • Proficient computer skills, specifically in Word, Outlook, and Excel.

     

    Physical Requirements:

    • Able to frequently sit, stand, and walk for periods of time, supporting both the plant (on the floor) and doing office work (on the computer)
    • Able to lift up to 40 lbs on occasion

    Regular work schedule is M-F (Summer)

    Physical Work Conditions

    • 50 – 50 split between office and plant work environment
    • While working on the floor there will be work with and around moving machinery, fumes and chemicals. 
    • Office work requires sitting at a desk, using a computer and phone.
