Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager plans, develops and manages company policies for adhering to local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Designs and develops facilities, work areas and work procedures. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager directs preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to environmental, health, and safety engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head.   • Job Summary: 

    Manages Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Subject Matter Expert (SME) team & provides leadership and guidance to local activities on the operational level at assigned site. Position itself is a subject–matter expert on a wide range of SHE topics, issues and activities. These activities typically include; regulatory compliance, worker’s compensation, SHE legal and SHE/ MGT training, as well as regional/global program deployment and alignment in order to achieve site/regional SHE goals, control costs and maintain associate morale through a secure, safe, and healthy working environment.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for site level Safety & Environmental Performance data and tracks consolidated plant metrics. Reporting up to sub-region level.
    • Responsible for analyzing and tracking Workers’ Compensation related data for the site.
    • Responsible for annual planning of operational activities requested by NA DENSO which may include profit achievement targets, budget targets, safety targets, environmental targets, etc.
    • Plan Safety and Environmental objectives for the site and deployment of NA DESNO plans related to fire, hygiene, electrical, machine, air, water, waste, etc.
    • Seek out support from NA DENSO’s technical experts within the Safety and Environmental function to strengthen general knowledge base.  Typical subject expertise areas but not limited to Fire Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Electrical Safety, Ergonomics, Machine Safety, Air Purity, Water and Waste Management.
    • File and maintain regulatory documents including US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) injury and illness logs, hazardous waste reports, State and Federal Air permitting forms, FAA and Department of Transportation (DOT) permitting documents, OSHA and US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) enforcement letters, contracts with vendors at each NA site, Environmental site assessments, audit findings, etc.
    • Provide engineering management support for compliant designs according to company machine safety standards.
    • Act as a coach and consultant for site management to support regional and local alignment of objectives.
    • Evaluate team members’ work performance and assists in upgrading their development and talent.
    • May perform other duties or tasks as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a technical area (Health and Human Services, Environmental Engineering or Occupational Health and Safety) or 7 years of relevant experience with a related degree. 
    • In-depth technical knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental policies, procedures, and terms, including knowledge of legal issues and terminology related to Safety, Health and Environment.
    • Strong management skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills and presentation skills.
    • Ability to negotiate and provide input and recommendations both internally and externally.
    • Ability to coordinate and monitor a high level of activity as demonstrated under a variety of conditions and constraints.
    • Ability to comprehend complex instructions and respond effectively and perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including being on-call 24 hours per day.
    • Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, and fingers rapidly and accurately and handle precise movements.

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Certification is desired, not required such as CSP, CIH, ASP, CFPS, CHMM

    Salary Range: $100,800-$125,900
