Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager plans, develops and manages company policies for adhering to local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Designs and develops facilities, work areas and work procedures. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager directs preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to environmental, health, and safety engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     SIE is looking for a Safety Manager – Rail/Transit to support various MTA C&D transit construction projectsThis position will be responsible for supporting the client in auditing safety on the project.


    Responsibilities:
    • Ensuring contractor and subcontractor compliance with contract specifications, APP & SWPs and MTA C&D Policies and Procedures.
    • Conducting safety audits of projects and generating reports with findings and photos
    • Reviewing safety plans and submittals
    • Reviewing incidents and incident reports
    • Participating in project meetings
    • Reviewing contractor schedules and payments
    • Conducting constructability review
    • Coordination with MTA and other stakeholders
    Qualification & Skills: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred
    • 10 years of experience in safety management for infrastructure projects
    • Experience with design-build and design-bid-build projects
    • Experience with MTA C&D (including NYCT, LIRR, MNR), Amtrak, NJ Transit, and PANYNJ
    • Excellent communication skills and work ethic
    • MNR Contractor Safety Training
    • Site Safety Manager Course
    • OSHA 30 (OSHA 500 desirable)
    • CSP, CHST or other formal safety certifications preferred
    • NYCT Track Training
    Expected salary range is $72,800 - $156,000 annually. Actual compensation will be dependent on the individual’s qualifications, skills, experience, and physical work location.
