Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager plans, develops and manages company policies for adhering to local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Designs and develops facilities, work areas and work procedures. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager directs preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to environmental, health, and safety engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Environmental Health & Safety Manager

  • Responsibilities 

    • Assists in the review of current EHS programs, and development and implementation of new programs as the regulatory climate or site process' change. Ensure changes do not negatively impact operations, regulatory compliance or increase risk to employees.
    • Ensure conformance to meet Wastequip standards while meeting business objectives.
    • Provides management team with guidance on health and safety and confirm sites fulfill industry, local, state, and federal guidelines, and regulations.
    • Facilitates, conducts, or assists investigations, inspections, and training as needed. Works collaboratively to develop and implement solutions to identified EHS gaps.
    • Works with cross-functional teams to reduce employee exposure to risks and ensure compliance across the EHS spectrum. Interacts daily with the site population to coach and mentor on EHS risks and behaviors.
    • As assigned, complete waste management activities, EHS reports, and other documentation required for regulatory compliance or to ensure conformance to Wastequip business requirements.
    • Collect, schedule, and file necessary data and paperwork to support local permitting requests, renewals, and general requirements.
    • Assist with cost tracking and support to the department, including requisition creation and tracking.
    • Manage analytic data by facility and develop weekly and monthly KPI reporting accordingly.
    • Assist with on-site activities, including audits and sampling exercises. 
    • Provides technical support to plants and facilities.
    • Assist EHS and Engineering staff with any compliance and administrative based needs. 
    • As assigned, Complete EHS projects and initiatives
    • Participates in team meetings and provides regular on-site project presence.
    • Position requires travel to sites (up to 50%). 

    Qualifications

    • Proven performance driving EHS as the cornerstone of business operations
    • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Access, and SharePoint.
    • Highly effective organizational skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills and active listening skills
    • Highly driven, ability to take initiative, and work independently. 
    • Facilitate collaboration and interaction with individuals and groups including contracted partners.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of internal employees. 
    • Effective analytical skills.
    • Effective project management skills. 
    • 2-5 years of previous EHS or related experience.
    • Completion of 4-year degree.
