Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager plans, develops and manages company policies for adhering to local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Designs and develops facilities, work areas and work procedures. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager directs preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to environmental, health, and safety engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Position Summary: A Case Manager/Child Safety Specialist offers valuable support and assistance to children and families in need. This role will require good time management and critical thinking skills. In this position you would assess child safety and risk while working with families, agencies and the courts for case planning. This is a fast paced environment which requires organization, a high degree of expertise and skill in maintaining established quality and accuracy in work assignments.

    There are two different types of Case Manager: Investigative and Ongoing

    Investigative Specialist:

    • Investigate claims of child abuse and neglect and document all information assessed.
    • Interview and gather information in order to assess the family, in order to determine if abuse or neglect claim is substantiated.
    • Respond to crisis situations and explore options of child removal if warranted.
    • Explore placement options such as foster homes, kinship homes, or group homes when a child is removed.

    Ongoing Specialist:

    • Assist families in achieving permanency through reunification, guardianship, adoption, or the Young Adult Program.
    • Assess and facilitate services to assist families in making changes to protect and ensure their children’s safety.
    • Help families engage with community partners and contracted agencies to assist in achieving safety for their children.
    • Organize Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings to ensure all participants are aligned on the goal of helping the children.
    • Continuously document client activity to ensure accuracy and consistency.

    Training: During the first 22 weeks of employment you will be classified as a Department of Child Safety Trainee, and will be in training full time. Your training will be a mix of classroom and on-the-job field experience.

    Salary: $21.70 per hour

    Step Increases

    Child Safety Specialists are eligible for incremental pay increases as follows:

    • Successful completion of the 22 weeks CORE training $22.59/hour
    • One year of Child Safety Specialist service $24.11/hour
    • Two years of Child Safety Specialist service $25.96/hour
    • Three years of Child Safety Specialist service $27.66/hour
