Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises engineers who develop, implement and maintain company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.   • Summary

    This is a full-time position that is responsible for coordinating safety functions and training throughout Black Hills Trucking to maintain a high level of safe operations and to assure regulatory and required customer compliance. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Responsibilities

    • Conducts safety meetings and training.
    • Ensures employee qualification files are compliant per DOT regulations and in order.
    • Conducts safety inspections to assure safety on tractor trailers, trailers, cranes, loaders, forklifts, pickup trucks, cranes, and all other equipment;
    • Conducts safety inspections of terminal repair shops and yards regularly.
    • Facilitates and/or oversees all new hire training of all personnel to comply with DOT, OSHA, DEQ, EPA, and company regulations and policies. Also facilitates and/or assists with the pre-hire screening and processes.
    • Manages reports and investigates workplace accidents and injuries.
    • Road tests drivers, inspects equipment, monitors adherence of speed limits, PPE, loading and unloading equipment, and securement; assures safe loading and un-loading procedures are followed.
    • Coordinates with the Safety Coordinator to ensure proper operational safety training of all personnel.
    • Provides safety progress and information to management.
    • Stays current with all applicable Codes and Regulations pertaining to Safety and ensure compliance (DOT, OSHA, DEQ and EPA, etc.)
    • Assists dispatching, field work, and equipment operation.

    Qualifications

    • An Associate’s degree in related business field with three (3) years of occupational safety experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
    • Proficient at managing data with detail and accuracy.
    • Experience working with transportation software and internet resources.
    • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
    • Ability to travel
    • English language fluency, verbal and written.
    • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
