Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises engineers who develop, implement and maintain company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     FirstLight Power is looking for innovative, collaborative, and team-oriented summer temps to join our talented and dynamic team of individuals working to decarbonize the grid and accelerate the clean energy transformation.

    The Health, Safety & Enviromental (HS&E) Intern/Summer Temp works with the HS&E Specialist, other engineers, and professionals on a series of open projects. This position will be based at FirstLight’s New Milford, CT location and will involve work on projects across all CT and PA stations.

    START DATE: June 03, 2024       END DATE: August 16, 2024


    Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

    • Fall Protection & Ladders: Identify and create a documented inventory system for all anchors and ladders within the CT and  PA locations;
    • Emergency Response & Evacuation: Identify and create a documented system for all fire extinguishers; Determine locations missing evacuation maps and create evacuation diagrams;
    • Chemical Inventory: Review current SDS inventory and compare agains current chemical storage inventory to ensure SDS are present. If missing SDS, upload missing SDS in the FirstLight tracking system;
    • Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned;
    • Complies with all FirstLight policies and procedures.

    Job Qualifications / Skills

    • Desire for exposure to the renewable energy industry, and/or passion for decarbonizing the grid;
    • Actively enrolled in a Safety and Occupational health or Engineering degree program from a regionally accredited university or college;
    • Valid driver license, required;
    • Must have reliable transportation and ability to drive between work sites. Mileage will be  reimbursed;
    • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment as well as taking on individual tasks;
    • Proactive at asking questions, seeking to understand, and making recommendations for improvement;
    • Desire to innovate, think of new ideas, and solve bigger problems;
    • Engage in actively fostering an inclusive environment;
    • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills;
    • Intermediate MS Suite skills.
