Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises engineers who develop, implement and maintain company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Overview:

    This individual will be responsible for planning, maintaining, creating and executing Environmental Health and Safety initiatives. This role will ensure that the practices, protocols and policies are met and will conform to the following:

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintain compliance with OSHA, fire safety, and building codes standards and prevention of environmental health issues in facilities.
    • Identify items of non-compliance or concern and prepare written reports of deficiencies and required abatement dates for audit by the Division of Labor.
    • Assist in analyzing and evaluating accidents and injury reports to determine problem areas, recommend/develop techniques to improve safety measures and eliminate/prevent/decrease occurrences.
    • Serve as a resource to company safety committees.
    • Conduct OSHA safety training.
    • Assist in conducting ergonomics training, on-site assessments, and recommend appropriate equipment.
    • Implement training programs based on the needs/requests of each department and facility.
    • Maintain necessary internal and external training records, systems, databases.
    • Assist in investigating complaints of health and safety issues while maintaining the confidentiality.
    • Assist in conducting on-site inspections, prepare reports, initiate corrective actions, and conduct follow-up inspections.
    • Assist in providing advice, guidance, and assistance to department heads and staff regarding safety measures, compliance with OSHA standards, OSHA funding procedures, and C&A policies and procedures.
    • Hazardous materials, waste, and recycling handling.
    • Partner with business units, human resources, and external agencies

    Requirements:

    • Excellent computer skills, including a high degree of proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Outstanding organizational and superior communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Excellent reading and comprehension skills, proficient ability to detect errors and be a team player
    • Should have a degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental or Occupational Health, Safety Engineering, Hazardous Materials Management, or a closely related field.
    • Experience maintaining confidentiality in matter involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace.
    • You have experience with federal and state health and safety regulatory programs (OSHA and EPA).
    • You have experience in general safety, building inspection, safety inspections and/or accident investigation or a related area.
    • You can prioritize duties, work independently, respond timely to hazardous materials spills, handle confidential records, and act as a regulatory agency contact.
    • You can demonstrate the ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships and build mutual trust and respect with others and maintain them over time.
    • You have experience in ergonomics.
    • You have a high standard of integrity, performance, and professional behavior.
    • You have strong verbal and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and experience with Microsoft Office.
    • You have knowledge of OSHA standards and knowledge of federal, state and local fire codes.
    • You can interpret laws and policies.
    • You can effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a variety of people in situations that could involve confrontation.
    • You have the ability to obtain safety certifications required.
    • You have a valid driver's license.

    Experience:

    • Should have previous Environmental Health and Safety background/responsibilities.

    Qualifications:

    • Should have Associate Degree in EHS or related filed.
    • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills
    • Experience with analyzing data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses as well as accident investigations
    • Experience in emergency response and willing to hold First Aid and CPR certificates
    • Experience in workers compensation case management
    • Experience and willingness to conduct routine training

    Essential Functions:

    • Able to stand, twist, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, climb ladders and stairs, and lift on a continuous basis for an 8-hour workday.
    • Able to lift 25 lbs. routinely
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
