Summary
The Safety Manager is directly responsible for safety leadership and managing the safety and risk associated with construction projects and company operations. The Safety Manager will proactively develop, plan, direct and implement River Cities Engineering’s safety program to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment.
Essential Duties and Functions
· Work with River Cities Engineering’s leadership to develop strategies for achieving long-term safety visionary objectives.
· Oversee River Cities Engineering’s Safety Program including the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
· Oversee development and implementation of project-specific safety policies and procedures.
· Support leadership with compliance of all applicable federal, state, county, local, and customer-required safety related regulations.
· Direct safety training programs to all levels of staff, as required, to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards.
· Support the onsite project managers and supervisors in ensuring each construction project is conducting operations in a safe manner for the protection of our employees, clients, subcontractors and the general public.
· Provide support to field staff in the event of an OSHA or MSHA site inspection.
· Coordinate with Project Supervision so that necessary protective equipment and safety materials are utilized, adequate first aid materials are available, and safety documents are posted on-site.
· Participate in early return to full-duty work responsibilities for injured workers and to provide meaningful light duty transitional work opportunities.
· Perform and oversee investigation of accidents, injuries and unsafe working conditions to include interfacing with workers compensation claims and communication with injured workers and the return-to-work strategies.
· Frequently travel to job sites to check and maintain job safety and ensure the Company and its job sites remain hazard and accident free by conducting periodic safety inspections.
Requirements
· 3 years’ experience in safety management field
· Demonstrated experience managing safety efforts of industrial electrical construction projects
· Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
· Ability to perform various safety functions on-site, including managing/administering safety orientations, overseeing substance abuse programs and investigating/reporting injuries/illnesses/near misses
· Ability to work with all groups: River Cities Engineering’s staff and management, owners’ representatives, trades and subcontractors
· Extensive knowledge of OSHA safety processes and guidelines and Worker’s Compensation Regulations.
· Effective organizational and time management skills
· Effective presentation skills
· Excellent oral and written communication
· Valid driver’s license
· OSHA 30 and CPR/First-Aid Certified
· Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
· CHST or CSP preferred
