Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for coordinating and assisting with the administration of the Rochester “Vision of Zero” which includes the plant behavioral based safety process. The purpose is to have Zero injuries, Zero process incidents, Zero distribution incidents, Zero Security incidents, Zero environmental incidents and Zero ethical issues. Will coordinate and lead the plant safety team and ensure all concerns raised by the team are addressed.
Responsible for all EHS programs on site including Work Permits, Industrial Hygiene, Workers Comp, Incident Investigation, etc.
Member of the PSM Team with direct responsibility for: Compliance Audits, Incident Investigations and Hot Work. Indirect Responsibility for Process Hazard Analysis and Emergency Planning.
Must acquire a working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Document Practices (GDP).
Must be an active behavior based safety observer/participant, lead and encourage team to perform observations. Will champion and lead this effort throughout the plant to encourage and drive participation by all employees.
Manages the Rochester Plant EHS programs (including PSM) to enforce regulations and to provide assistance to the plant in reducing risks and accidents. Will prioritize concerns and justify capital or expense that needs to be spent to reduce liability.
Facilitates site “License to operate Air, Wastewater, Storm water, Groundwater, Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Waste, and Homeland Security.
Supports the “Product Stewardship” initiative to ensure the health, safety and environmental performance of our products throughout the products’ life cycles.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, safety engineering, industrial hygiene or comparable field
Minimum 10 years environmental safety and health management experience in chemical industry
Minimum 5 years plant experience in one or more location(s) of similar size and complexity
Maintain OSHA 9001 certification
Demonstrated leadership skills running a safety and health function
Demonstrated ability to improve safety programs and culture
CSP, CIH, or other professional safety and health certification desired
