    ABOUT THE ROLE

    The Hiring and Compliance Specialist oversees multi-site hiring and licensing compliance. The specialist is responsible for executing talent acquisition initiatives and performing all duties of the hiring cycle: identifying, acquiring, assessing, and hiring top talent to fill open positions.  The specialist is responsible for following state and local regulatory guidelines and ensuring site and staff documentation and paperwork are maintained. They work closely with the Program Directors to ensure all YMCA, school, and regulatory requirements are met.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Models inclusive behaviors and embraces all dimensions of diversity.
    • Supports service line/department in actively working toward association-level objectives, as measured by identified goals/KPIs.
    • Serves as a good steward of association resources.
    • Be knowledgeable about all information in the Youth Services Staff Handbook.
    • Adhere to the policies of the YMCA of Western North Carolina & State licensing guidelines.
    • Recruit, onboard, and mentor Volunteers and Interns according to YMCA and State Licensing Compliance Guidelines.
    • Ensure that each Afterschool and Summer Camp location maintains up-to-date site paperwork and follows safety and compliance rules and regulations.
    • Ensure pre-employment compliance paperwork is completed and staff files are maintained per the state licensing guidelines.
    • Provide state licensing consultants with up-to-date staff and children’s files and records.
    • Communicate with the Human Resources team to identify open position details and create effective postings for open positions in accordance with internal processes on designated internal and external sites. 
    • Actively work toward building a diverse and qualified team to support the association. 
    • Use standardized techniques to assess the skills, qualifications, and experience of potential candidates. 
    • Coordinate the full cycle recruitment process via an electronic applicant tracking system, which includes effective job postings, sourcing, candidate identification, preliminary screening, interview coordination, and offer management.
    • Provide consistent recruiting status updates and feedback to Program Directors regarding applicants. 
    • Foster good relationships with potential candidates and past applicants by following dispositioning and communication standards. 
    • Must be available during programming hours: Monday through Friday, After School and School Out Program hours, typically from 2-6 p.m.

    Qualifications

    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Associate’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
    • Must be able to pass the NCDHHS background check.

    • Ability to effectively manage and communicate with young adults and adults through the hiring process.
    • Understanding and knowledge of record-keeping systems.
    • Ability to interview and onboard new employees in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Organizational skills related to handling documents and related paperwork.
    • Professional demeanor and exceptional interpersonal skills.
