About the Agency:
The Virginia Department of Military Affairs is a Commonwealth of Virginia state agency that provides professional and responsive support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Purpose of Position:
To assist in successfully implementing National Guard of Virginia (NGVA) Facilities Maintenance Operations Environmental (FMO-ENV) Objective in an efficient and professional manner in all things related to environmental compliance and budget management. Ensures that the Virginia Army National Guard (VaARNG) projects, facilities, and training comply with federal, state and local environmental laws, inter-agency agreements, DoD, and NGB policies and regulations.
Job Duties:
50% - Hazardous Waste Management Assistance:
• Assist in administration of hazardous waste program for MTC Fort Barfoot.
• Work with Environmental Program Manager (EPM), VaARNG leadership, DEQ, and NGB to document and correct deficiencies.
• Ensure proper management of hazardous waste disposal using DLA to maintain compliance with regulations.
20% - Storage Tank Management Assistance:
• Assist in implementation of storage tank program for MTC Ft Barfoot.
• Assure all storage tanks, both USTs and ASTs, are in compliance.
• Coordinate with EPM, VaARNG leadership, ECCs, NGB, and appropriate regulators to document and correct deficiencies.
20% - Clean Air and Clean Water Programs:
• Assist in administration of air and water compliance program on MTC Ft Barfoot.
• Assist in maintaining all existing air permits so that VaARNG is in compliance with all air regulations.
• Ensure applicable facilities compile information and maintain records as permits require.
5% - Environmental Procurement:
• Assist NGVA-FMO-ENV Resource Management and Supervisor to ensure project orders and purchase orders are in compliance with federal and state procurement procedures.
5% - Recurring and Non-Routine Projects:
•Responsible for completion of all other duties as assigned by Compliance Manager and/or EPM.

Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of environmental laws, experience in environmental program implementation, policies, regulations, and procedures affecting the VaARNG;
Knowledge of all aspects of environmental compliance;
Demonstrated ability to apply technical and scientific principles and practices to environmental compliance within a legally mandated framework; to design, conduct and oversee environmental compliance projects;
Excellent skills in communication, fiscal management, and project management;
Must have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Additional Considerations
Extensive knowledge and experience in an Environmental Compliance capacity.
