Environmental Engineer identifies, assesses and resolves problems concerning the environment. May also design, install, operate and maintain measuring apparatus to determine the level of pollutants involving air, land, and water. Being an Environmental Engineer performs experiments and reports findings on environmental consequences of equipment, tools, and procedures. Ensures the organization's conformance to federal, state, and local environmental legislation. Additionally, Environmental Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be an Environmental Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. A day in the life of an Environmental Specialist II can look like :
Use attention to detail skills to interpret and communicate permit conditions and compliance requirements to affected stakeholders within GVEA.
Provide expertise and guidance to advise and assist facilities in maintaining environmental compliance. Use communication skills to interface with regulatory agencies and GVEA staff to ensure compliance with existing and future environmental regulations, including air quality, water quality, and waste management.
Ensure that GVEA meets and exceeds regulatory compliance, reporting and recordkeeping requirements.
Eligibility
- Bachelor's of Science (BS) degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Science field required.
- Valid Alaska driver's license is required.
- Six years' environmental or relevant experience.
