Environmental Health Technician:
Jefferson County Public Health Department is hiring an Environmental Health Technician. This position provides technical support for all Environmental Public Health programs including Food Safety, On-site Sewage, Solid/Hazardous Waste, Zoonotic Disease, Living Environment and Drinking Water and Water Quality programs. Assists in review of plans and/or permits, creates and maintains files, and responds to customers and inquiries.

Education and/or Experience:
Associates Degree (A.A. or A.A.S.) in natural sciences or environmental technology and one (1) year of experience working in a private or public sector in environmental, health, natural resources, ecology or related environmental health position; OR three (3) years of experience working in a public sector environmental, health, natural resources, engineering, ecology or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in public health or for a public health related agency preferred.
Hours & Compensation:
40 hours per week with benefits. UFCW position, Grade 25, Starting pay typically $22.60/hr. Full hourly range $22.60-$28.23, DOE. This position is approved for a 3% salary increase on January 1, 2024. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. Plus 12 days of vacation, 11 paid holidays, sick leave, and bereavement leave. Starting January 1, 2024, UFCW will be adopting Personal Time Off (PTO) in lieu of vacation and sick leave.
