Environmental, Health and Safety Director oversees organizational compliance with local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Ensures that environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times. Being an Environmental, Health and Safety Director ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, Environmental, Health and Safety Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Environmental, Health and Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and enforce EHS policies and programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards including OSHA, EPA, and state regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
    • Lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and implement preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
    • Manage hazardous materials and waste, ensuring proper storage, disposal, and emergency response protocols.
    • Design and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs for all employees, promoting awareness and competency in safety practices and environmental management.
    • Serve as the liaison with regulatory bodies, managing inspections, permits, and reporting requirements.
    • Track and report on EHS performance metrics, presenting findings to senior management and recommending improvements.
    • Oversee project and construction safety to ensure compliance with established EHS standards.
    • Champion continuous improvement efforts in EHS practices, aiming to exceed industry standards.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
    • Professional EHS certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.
    • Proven experience in EHS management within the chemical manufacturing industry.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of EHS regulations and the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical, results-oriented manner.
    • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
    • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce.
    • Commitment to fostering a culture of safety, health, and environmental responsibility.
