Environmental, Health and Safety Director oversees organizational compliance with local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Ensures that environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times. Being an Environmental, Health and Safety Director ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, Environmental, Health and Safety Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Environmental, Health and Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Reports To: Safety Superintendent:

    Position Summary: :The EHS Technician ensures environmental, health, and safety compliance as outlined by federal, state, and local agencies and as contractually required.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities::
    • Reports to the EHS Safety Superintendent
    • Monitors, evaluates, and enforces the PSI Environmental, Health and Safety programs
    • Conducts routine safety inspections and surveillances; ensures discrepancies are corrected
    • Performs Shipyard Competent Person duties
    • Maintains administrative files as required by the EHS Manual, NPDES permit and other requirements
    • Completes accident/incident/illness investigations and reports to Management and Corporate Insurance Department
    • Provides training as necessary to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies, the EHS Manual and to ensure the ongoing education and safety of employees
    • Maintains safety training records
    • Conducts Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to ensure employees take required precautionary measures
    • Maintains HAZ/Non-HAZ waste site(s) and materials
    • Assists in performance of tasks related to environmental compliance with NPDES per management, state, and/or federal laws, rules, and/or regulations
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Education/Training::
    • Minimum of 2 years of safety/environmental experience in the marine repair/construction industry preferable
    • Shipyard Competent Person Certification experience preferred
    • OSHA 10-hour maritime, construction or general industry certification
    • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred
    • First Aid / CPR certification preferred
    • Ability to effectively operate office equipment, to include desktop computers, calculators, printers, copy machines and telephones
    Qualification/Requirement::
    • Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
    • This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
    • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
    • Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
    • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
    • Valid State of Hawaii drivers’ license in good standing
    • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of a shift
