Environmental, Health and Safety Director oversees organizational compliance with local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Ensures that environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times. Being an Environmental, Health and Safety Director ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, Environmental, Health and Safety Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Environmental, Health and Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Deliver effective environmental compliance, health, safety and sustainability programs to manage risk and ensure the safety and well-being of Micron team members at all times.

    Manages the environmental, industrial, health and safety regulation compliance for one or multiple facilities. Responsible for the development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health and safety policies; develops procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention, and building safety) used throughout the company. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental safety and handles all contact with appropriate agencies. Coordinates licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal and monitors waste handling. Develops and supervises company training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, lab/plant inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety. May be the point of contact for emergency personnel and manage workers compensation program administration. Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

    • Environmental compliance – Ensure site compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, standards, and rules. Stay current on policy changes.

    • Emergency response – Prepare for and respond to emergency and non-emergency EHS-related incidents. Provide a consistent, professional approach to incident response.

    • Health and Safety – Drive safety performance improvements through team member engagement and effective safety management systems. Conduct investigations and root cause analysis, implement preventative measures, lead all aspects of construction, establish critical metrics to supervise EHS programs.

    • Sustainability – Drive technical strategy for and execution of  site sustainability projects in line with overall corporate sustainability program.

    • EHS team leadership – Develop internal leadership and technical expertise to deepen bench. Attract and retain the best EHS professionals in the world. Effective performance management, succession planning, training, and leadership development.

    • Construction - has knowledge of construction standard processes and compliance obligations.

    How To Qualify:

    • Recognized expert in regulatory compliance, with specific experience in New York state.

    • Demonstrated record of completing goals and solving difficult problems with a true senior leader approach (e.g., builds a disciplined environment, knows when to get in the details vs. delegate).

    • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, or related field.

    • 10 years of Health, Safety, and Environmental experience

    • Safety Practitioner (GSP) designation is helpful

    • CSP or CIH preferred

    The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

    $147,000.00 - $256,000.00

    Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.  The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.  The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
