Environmental, Health and Safety Director oversees organizational compliance with local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Ensures that environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times. Being an Environmental, Health and Safety Director ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, Environmental, Health and Safety Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Environmental, Health and Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • As the Director - Quality & Safety, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive quality management system (QMS) and safety management system (SMS) that complies with all relevant aviation regulations and industry best practices.     Responsibilities
    • Develop and implement: A robust QMS and SMS aligned with 14 CFR Part 21, ISO 9001, and other relevant standards.
    • Oversee: All quality control and safety activities throughout the manufacturing process, including inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
    • Lead a team: Of quality and safety professionals, ensuring they have the necessary training and resources to excel.
    • Analyze and investigate: Quality and safety incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
    • Maintain and review: All quality and safety documentation, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal procedures.
    • Collaborate with: Engineering, manufacturing, flight operations, finance, program and other departments to ensure quality and safety are integrated into all aspects of our operations.
    • Stay current: On the latest aviation regulations, industry best practices, and emerging technologies for quality and safety improvement.
    • Represent the company at relevant audits and inspections by regulatory authorities.
    • Foster a culture: Of safety, continuous improvement, and commitment to quality among all employees.
    • Ability to present: To leadership and corporate level staff at all hands, board meetings, etc.


    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Aviation Safety or a related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aviation manufacturing, preferably with aircraft.
    • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful QMS and SMS programs.
    • Oversees and participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of employees.
    • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing quality and/or safety teams.
    • Strong understanding of quality control principles and procedures.
    • Knowledge of FAA regulations and certification requirements for airship components is a plus.
    • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of 14 CFR Part 21, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality and safety standards.
    • Data-driven approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement using industry standard tools (RCCA, FMEA, etc). 
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
    • OSHA 30 certified preferred 
    • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQM, CQA)
    • Knowledge of six sigma practices

    The base salary range for this role is $185,000 to $250,000, which is determined based on experience, geography, and qualifications. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes a very competitive annual bonus, 401K Match, and other generous benefits.
