Environmental Manager oversees the analysis and evaluation of air, water, and land systems to determine if pollutants are present and directs the implementation of appropriate corrective action if necessary. Develops and plans policies and procedures related to air, water, and land systems in accordance with organization and government rules and regulations. Being an Environmental Manager evaluates operations and makes recommendations to reduce waste or pollution. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline. Additionally, Environmental Manager typically reports to head of a unit/department. The Environmental Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Environmental Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. A day in the life of an Environmental Specialist II can look like :
Use attention to detail skills to interpret and communicate permit conditions and compliance requirements to affected stakeholders within GVEA.
Provide expertise and guidance to advise and assist facilities in maintaining environmental compliance. Use communication skills to interface with regulatory agencies and GVEA staff to ensure compliance with existing and future environmental regulations, including air quality, water quality, and waste management.
Ensure that GVEA meets and exceeds regulatory compliance, reporting and recordkeeping requirements.
