Environmental Compliance Manager

  • Position Description

    Origis Energy is looking for an Environmental Compliance Manager to join our diverse and growing team. The ideal candidate, reporting to our Director of Safety, will be focused on oversight and management of all construction related environmental permitting compliance, environmental reviews, and POC for any AHJ or regulatory body. 

    The position of Environmental Compliance Manager is a regular, full-time position, and is eligible for our generous employee benefits package, including employer paid health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions, and other great benefits.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Responsible for oversight of the Environmental Compliance Management program in accordance with Federal, State and Local Regulations for the construction of utility-scale solar plants.
    • Ensure EPC partners investigate and document all environmental accidents, incidents, and near misses, and report them to the company Safety Director per Origis Energy policy.
    • Conduct facility audits of EPC partner compliance and consistency with regulations and corporate policies.
    • Track project NPDES Permit and SPCC Plan.
    • Oversee, maintain, and train staff on applicable SWPPP and SPCC protocols.
    • Defines and implements corrective/preventive actions and continuous improvement activities as directed.
    • Interfaces with other department personnel and external agencies, authorities as needed.
    • Review environmental safety, health and emergency plans and programs and advise management of existing compliance issues.
    • Ensure projects are maintaining required regulatory records.
    • Review project SWPPP and SPCC updates.
    • In partnership with the development team, review zoning, floodplain, biological resources, wetlands, cultural resources, and other site-specific considerations, and make strategic recommendations to support early-stage project development and minimize, manage, or mitigate environmental risks.
    • Attend site visits in the field related to site assessment, community engagement, agency review, and construction.
    • Coordinate with in house civil team on design & installation related SWPPP issues

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Political Science/Government, Geography, Economics, or another related field; or 5 additional years of experience in Environmental Compliance. 
    • Experience in land development, Construction a plus.
    • 5 years’ related experience.
    • Utility scale solar and BESS project experience preferred.
    • Experience in developing, maintaining, and enforcing project environmental protection plans, including field inspection of SWPPP measures
    • Knowledge of EPA and state regulations for NPEDES and Construction Stormwater Permitting.

    • Proficient on Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to provide any reporting requirements
    • Team player: ability to work with multidisciplinary team

    Location        Miami, FL; Austin, TX; or San Diego, CA is preferred but remote can be considered for the right individual

    Travel             Travel required as necessary up to 50%
