Ensures compliance with and trains employees on all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Environmental Services Coordinator requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.     TELEWORK

    This position offers an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule with a minimum 2-day work in Austin Headquarters or one of our Regional offices.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    The Environmental Enforcement Coordinator will play a key role in achieving TCEQ’s mission. You would use your skills and experience to:

    • Research noncompliance allegations, and prepare specific materials including penalty calculations, letters, memos, orders, and technical requirements
    • Monitor ordering provisions and compliance schedules for formal enforcement actions until compliance is achieved or cases are closed. Conduct routine reviews of technical reports, documents, and databases to determine compliance. Prepare quality enforcement documents that are accurate and complete in response to order compliance monitoring activities
    • Interact with respondents to encourage compliance, to settle enforcement actions, and as appropriate, to initiate use and completion of Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEP). Communicate case status and provide routine assistance concerning Agency rules regarding enforcement actions. Provide testimony at commissioners’ agendas, administrative hearings, or civil trials
    • Maintain data to track case progress from assignment to closure. Maintain enforcement working file and all information necessary to timely track cases and provide updated cases status
    • Assist with, and/or complete special projects.
    Qualifications


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, criminal justice, or related field.

    One year of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities directly related to the examples of work performed may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience coordinating, managing, or overseeing multiple projects, cases, or accounts

    • Experience maintaining or updating databases
    • Experience interacting with a regulated community or customer base
    • Experience evaluating fact data, scientific results, and/or regulatory information

    CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

    This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Natural Resources Specialist III-IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Enforcement Coordinator III-IV series.
