Epidemiologist monitors and investigates known or suspected sources and transmission of communicable diseases. Collects, analysis, and interprets disease data using appropriate statistical and research methods. Being an Epidemiologist reviews sterilization, disinfection and waste control techniques and recommends changes as needed. Develops and coordinates effective and practical interventions and procedures to control and prevent disease in the community or facility. Additionally, Epidemiologist typically requires a master's degree of microbiology. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Epidemiologist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC) is looking for a Planner/Epidemiologist to provide support to the Berkshire Public Health Alliance and other BRPC Public Health Program projects. Specific tasks may include epidemiological research, analysis and presentation, as well as a variety of support tasks. This is a full-time, on-site, fully benefitted position.
A Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology or related field or at least 2 years of relevant professional experience is required.
On-site staff are expected to be in the office at least two days per week, and to be available during regular working hours. Travel throughout Berkshire County may be required at times. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be needed. The starting pay range for this position is $58,643 – 65,224, depending on experience. Full-time employment includes an attractive benefits package.
