Equipment Engineer designs, develops, evaluates, and deploys manufacturing equipment, devices, and systems. Develops electrical control devices to convey materials and products throughout the manufacturing process. Being a Equipment Engineer integrates devices and instruments into the systems that measure and control environmental or material variations occurring during the manufacturing process. Ensures equipment and processes maintain throughput, yield, safety, and reliability objectives. Additionally, Equipment Engineer maintains an up-to-date knowledge of equipment vendors' changes, upgrades, and innovations. Prepares preventive maintenance plans and procedures for all equipment and provides technical support during maintenance or turnaround processes. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Equipment Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     AbeTech is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Field Engineer to join our team and take on the responsibility of the installation, service, and preventative maintenance of industrial equipment. A successful candidate will specialize in various systems, including conveyor systems, label applicator systems, printers, computers, and software. This role requires technical expertise, customer service skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.


    Primary Responsibilities:

    1. Installation, Service, and Preventative Maintenance:

    • Execute the installation, service, and preventative maintenance of industrial equipment, including conveyor systems, label applicator systems, printers, computers, and software.
    • Conduct routine checks and maintenance procedures to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.

    2. Remote and On-site Support:

    • Provide efficient remote and on-site support for industrial equipment installations, addressing technical issues promptly.
    • Collaborate with clients to troubleshoot problems and find effective solutions.  

    3. Training and Education for Clients and internal users:

    • Conduct comprehensive training sessions for clients and internal teams on the functionality and maintenance of total systems.
    • Ensure that clients and team members are well-versed in best practices for equipment usage.

    4. Documentation and Best Practices:

    • Document all activities meticulously to ensure scalable support and contribute to defining best practices for AbeTech installation and service.
    • Maintain organized records for future reference and continuous improvement.

    5. Continual Education:

    • Stay updated on the evolving AbeTech Industrial Automation offerings through continuous education and training.
    • Adapt to new technologies and industry advancements to enhance expertise.

    6. Travel:

    • Be prepared for up to 75% travel to various client locations for installations, service calls, and training sessions.

    Requirements

      

    Requirements:

    • Technical or Mechanical Training OR 5 years of applicable experience in the field.
    • Hands-on experience with mechanical and/or production equipment (e.g., fillers, film, box formers, conveyors).
    • Proficient in working with hand tools and a variety of power tools.
    • Electrical knowledge, particularly in low voltage (5Vdc up to 220 Vac).
    • Computer knowledge, including tasks such as changing IP addresses, Device Manager, MS Office, and Communication Testing.
    • PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) experience is considered a plus, with the ability to troubleshoot using PLC software.

    Skills/Knowledge:

    • Fast learner with the ability to multitask effectively.
    • Problem solver mindset with analytical skills.
    • Ability to work with little supervision while maintaining high-quality standards.
    • Clear and logical thinking, especially in complex situations.
    • Comfortable adapting to same-day and next-day changes to project scope and location.

    ** This role could also use the Minnesota office as a hybrid office location.
