Equipment Engineering Director jobs in Chattanooga, TN

The Director of Engineering will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of highly skilled engineering staff while ensuring that company objectives and goals are met. The Director of Engineering will report directly to the Global Vice President of Engineering and Innovation.

• Champions the entire product engineering lifecycle: specifications, design, development, testing and sustaining.
  
• Prioritizes and delivers all projects on time, meeting customer requirements including cost, quality, and reliability targets.
  
• Participates in technical decision making and takes a hands-on approach to understanding technical and design issues when necessary.
  
• Maintains a product/solution roadmap and development schedule that can be shared with process partners alike.
  
• Reviews work and projects for technical accuracy.
  
• Drives defined engineering processes and identifies opportunities to improve processes for efficiency and effectiveness gains.
  
• Establishes a strong engineering culture, excellent technology, high quality implementations and foster effective communications in and among the organization. Achieves quick and constructive resolutions of conflict and sets standards for quality, testing and documentation.
  
• Facilitates communication among clients/customers and engineers, ensuring specifications, budgets, and deadlines are clearly communicated and understood.
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in leading an engineering organization with demonstrated experience in leading new technology efforts from inception to transition to a customer organization, driving program deliverables, identifying, and resolving technical and program decision/issues.
  
• A minimum of 10 years of broad engineering experience within designing and manufacturing organizations.
  
• Minimum of 7 years of R&D experience.
  
• Wheels and Tires experience is REQUIRED. 
  

• Strong knowledge and experience with process tools such as profit planning, strategic planning, Organizational Capability Assessment
  
• Lean System/Six Sigma, Supply Chain Management

• Health and Safety (EHS) processes (ISO 9001, etc.).
