Duties

• Operate crawler or pneumatic-tired tractors with cable-controlled power unit and blade attachments to make cuts, fills, road building, clearing of growth, pile earth for bank building, spreading and other general earth moving work.
• Operate motor graders where grading requirements must be precise but not absolute.
• Operate asphalt distributor which consists of a 1500-gallon tank mounted on a truck equipped with various special attachments, equipment and controls to apply various types of road asphalt.
• Operate water tanker distributors with up to 5,000 gallon capacity used with 5- or 10- ton trucks.
• Operate miscellaneous equipment such as chip spreader to distribute rock chips on road beds or shoulders; self-propelled or towed rollers to roll dirt, roads, etc.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
• Position is subject to random drug testing in accordance with Army Regulation 600-85.
• May require use of protective clothing or equipment, as authorized by WSMR Safety Office.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster).
