Conhagen Intermediate Mechanic
JOB SUMMARY:
The Intermediate Mechanics assist the mechanic department by independently carrying out simple activities such as building primary pumps, balancing standard rotors, and hydro-inspecting machinery. Furthermore, Intermediate Mechanics serve as a source of expertise and authority for trainee mechanics and resolving common mechanical issues. The Intermediate Mechanic should have at least 3-4 years of industrial mechanics experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under limited aid, inspect, clean, assemble, and take apart rotating equipment following verbal and written instructions.
- Acquaintance with the components and operations of pumps and turbines.
- Familiarity with the restoration and inspection of mechanical equipment. In-depth understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Examine and interpret sketches, printed instructions, and technical aids.
- Employ fundamental mathematics such as (geometry) to measure to a thousandth of an inch precisely.
- Operate transportation machinery like forklifts and overhead cranes to move products between production areas. (Locations may vary)
- Execute all photo & visual inspections.
- Label all equipment components appropriately to guarantee successful reassembly.
- Clean and sandblast parts for inspection.
- Execute Non-Destructive Testing examinations on all essential components.
- Prepare components for the final assembly.
- Record all clearances of rotating components before unit assembly.
- Manage, clean, and put away parts suitably.
- Complete and submit all required documents promptly.
- Notify the Safety Manager (Coordinator) of any broken machinery or equipment.
- Regularly conduct shop cleaning and upkeep to guarantee an orderly and secure work atmosphere.
- Adherence to all H.S.E. guidelines, encompassing company, state, and federal (OSHA) regulations, is essential.
- Establish a transparent dialogue with supervisors, craft workers, and coworkers during inspections and cleaning procedures.
- Make recommendations for procedural solutions to improve the efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness of the company/department.
- Provide occasional training and mentoring for inexperienced mechanics.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Adequate understanding of the English language (spoken & written.)
- Must have the authorization to work in the U.S. and be able to provide proof.
- Interpret drawings, sketches, and written instructions.
- Ability to remain on task.
- Proficiency in problem-solving.
- Proficiency in critical thinking and deductive reasoning.
- Detail oriented Proficiency in attentive listening & verbal communication.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Capability to manage time effectively.
- Competency to fulfill duties with little help and self-direction.
- Work both collaboratively and independently.
- Two years of experience inspecting and remedying rotating machinery malfunctions in a parallel field.
- Fundamental mechanic skills and comprehension of machinery are essential.
- Use precise measuring tools such as indicators, verniers, micrometers, calipers, internal diameters, and gauges.
- Measure with precision down to .0001.
- Employ hydraulic equipment and tools, such as torque wrenches, pullers, hand presses, and torches.
- To transport products between production areas, and safely operate material transport equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes. (May vary by location.)
PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possessing experience in a shop setting with rapid changes and short-term product cycles is a plus.
- Weekend availability.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Certification from an accredited educational institution.
- Industrial Mechanical vocational training.
- Team player Forklift certification is a plus. (May vary by location.)

WORK CONDITIONS:
- Predominantly in a mechanic shop environment.
- Long stationary positions.
- Completing tasks with minimal technical support and guidance.
- A lively atmosphere in which product cycles are subject to possible fluctuations.
- Perform work near machinery with a moderate level of noise.
- Donning specified safety P.P.E. (eyeglasses & ear protection) is a must.
- Working with ladders is a potential part of the job. (May vary by location.)
- Proximity to constrained areas near the equipment is probable.
- Conhagen may request an extension of hours to meet customer requirements.

- Interact with fellow personnel, directors, and tradespeople daily.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The capacity to endure lengthy spans of standing.
- Possesses the strength to tug, heave, and transport up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to crouch, kneel, flex, and traverse equipment.
- Sufficient vision: both near and distant, able to focus/adjust eyesight.
- Adequate vision depth perception.
- Proficient hand-eye coordination.
- The capacity to traverse a mechanic shop environment with/without accommodation.
- Adhering to all company regulations and protocols.
- Self-starting & motivated.
