JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : Under general supervision, the Corrections Officer observes, secures, supervises, and ensures the general welfare of incarcerated adults in the county jail and performs other duties specifically assigned by the Sheriff and/or designee.
WORKING CONDITIONS : The Corrections Officer is expected to work irregular hours, expanded and rotating shifts for twenty-four (24) hour coverage.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES : Security Operations:
*Operate and control all electronic door panels.
*Monitor inmates in adjacent housing units.
*Observe inmates in special units.
*Observe inmate movement.
*Search inmates and their belongings, as needed.
Notify Corporals and/or Shift Supervisor of problems.
*Call for back-up assistance, as necessary.
*Inform replacement shift of ongoing issues.
*Perform bed checks, check locks and inspect facility for security infringements and violations.
Intake and Release:
*Conduct computer inquiry for outstanding wants/warrants.
