Estate Planning Consultant jobs in Battle Creek, MI

Miller Johnson, one of Michigan’s largest full-service law firms, is seeking an experienced full-time Legal Administrative Assistant to join our probate and estate planning practice group in our Kalamazoo office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinating administrative and legal practice tasks and projects for assigned attorney
• Calendaring meetings, conference calls, new client intake, opening new client matters, billing activities, and client interaction
• Preparation of documents including: probate court filings, trust administration documentation, basic estate planning drafting.
• Direct communication with clients, accountants, investment advisors, as needed, to assist with estate and trust settlements.
• Management of docket dates and cases; preparation of real estate documents (Fiduciary deeds, PTA, PRE-Rescission).
• Notarizing and/or witnessing legal documents

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and/or certification from an accredited paralegal program
• Minimum 3 years of experience in probate and trust administration and/or providing legal assistance and support to an estate planning practice
• Advanced knowledge of probate court rules and procedures, laws, and regulations relating to probate and trust administration; Florida state knowledge preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and PDF creation
• Excellent and effective written and verbal communication
• Exceptional client service skills, discretion, and judgment to ensure client confidentiality
• Proactive and detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
• Self-motivated professional with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to think creatively to identify and implement proactive solutions
