Estate Planning Director directs all aspects of the estate planning function including sales, staffing, and supervision. Participates in training and estate planning workshops. Being an Estate Planning Director ensures that the agency stays abreast of regulatory guidelines and new trends in the field. Researches and advises on tax, technical, and legal questions. Additionally, Estate Planning Director introduces new life products to the field and contributes to design of related software and tools. May be a speaker at insurance conferences or meetings. Requires a bachelor's degree of business, marketing, or mathematics. Typically reports to top management. May require Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). The Estate Planning Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Job Objective: Identify prospects and build relationships to cultivate, solicit, close, and steward planned gifts. Help donors consider planned giving options to maximize their personal goals while providing for The Salvation Army. Be a resource to major gifts staff, professional advisors, officers, and corps development staff in assigned area.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor degree required, Master’s degree preferred
Experience: Two years experience in planned giving, estate and financial planning, or similar field required, five years preferred
Certifications/Licenses: CAP, CSPG, CGPP or CFRE helpful but not required
Skills/Abilities:
Physical Requirements: The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25 pounds; traveling by airplane; both outdoor and indoor navigation of settings, and standing and/or walking up to 12 hours per day. Mental Demands:
Communication Demands: The position requires strong oral, writing, and listening skills in working with prospects who are mainly older. Respond quickly to inquiries from prospects and corps officers.
Travel: Travel weekly to visit donors, prospects, corps or officers.
Driving: Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
Working Conditions: Daily work is performed in a typical office environment; may require some weekend and evening work. Event work may include hotels, indoor/outdoor venues, Corps Community Centers, and other public venues.
