The Division 10 Estimating Coordinator estimates, schedules, evaluates and purchases Division 10 products for commercial construction projects to satisfy customers material, schedule, and our internal accounting requirements. Midwest Specialties was established in 2015 and is a nationally known distributor-subcontractor of Division 10 building specialties.

Essential Functions

• Reviews plans and specifications for product quantities and details, and prices of the products by soliciting vendor quotes. Provides accurate cost estimates for bid preparation.
• Meets with potential customer/clients on a as needed basis.
• Evaluates vendor quotes for accuracy and places product orders for large and small projects in a timely manner in order to meet the construction schedule and purchase within the project budget. The purchasing function of the position has potentially large dollar and scheduling impact on a project and the project s potential profitability and therefore attention to detail, accuracy and promptness are crucial.
• Accurately measure and design projects for quoting purposes.
• Communicates effectively with internal and external customers as well as architects both verbally and in writing
• Follow-up correspondence in writing (email primarily)
• Responsive to returning phone calls in a timely manner
• Effectively communicate between manufacturers and contractors/clients.
• Some data entry, filing, general office administration.
• Identifies and processes all changes per the customers' direction and as required
• Coordinates with project submittal process
• Reports to Lead Estimator on tasks as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 year degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology or equivalent experience
• 1 year in the Division 10 industry preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Products, including but not limited to Excel, Word and Outlook
• Effective time management skills and ability to stick to deadlines required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Must be able to read and understand construction contracts and interpret blue prints, specifications and plans
• Knowledge of Division 10 specialties products
• Must have excellent communication skills and positive interpersonal skills
• Ability to build solid relationships with customers and peers within the industry
• Ability to multi-task and handle all types of scopes of projects
• Detail oriented
• Strong mathematical skills
