Estimating Manager | Technical Sales

TAKTL is a Pittsburgh-based designer and manufacturer of custom facade panels and architectural elements utilizing a proprietary Architectural Ultra High-Performance Concrete (A|UHPC®) formulation and automated production technology. We are currently looking for an experienced estimator and manager to head up our quoting and estimating group, which supports technical sales. The Estimating Manager will be responsible for coordinating efforts both within the team and between departments to develop pricing and execution plans for custom façade projects. Position responsibilities include client interface, development and use of pricing models, architectural specification and drawing review, price optimization, team management, and production strategy.

The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in estimating for architectural construction or custom building products manufacturing. Successful applicants will be systematic, organized and detail-oriented, while also being actively communicative, personable, and client service-oriented. This position will be fully in-person at our offices adjacent to our manufacturing facility in Turtle Creek, PA. Travel not required.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision for the quoting team
• Manage development of quotes for custom façade projects based on architectural drawings and information received either directly or from Technical Sales representatives
• Interface with architects, contractors, and vendors to understand project details and gather relevant information for pricing
• Review specifications for incorporation into project pricing, and provide comments to design and construction teams as necessary
• Assist in order finalization process and transition to internal Project Management team
• Learn and apply critical information about company processes, manufacturing, and capabilities to incorporate into accurate pricing models and quotes
• Understand technical details of systems and products sufficiently to shepherd projects through entire process
• Coordinate efforts and strategies across company departments to develop accurate and timely quotes for customers

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS degree
• 5 years of experience in architectural construction estimating
• Working knowledge of architectural details and drafting standards
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple competing priorities
• Demonstrated leadership ability
• Clear, proactive verbal and written communicator
• Past successful development of costing models
