- Inspect plans and specifications of projects
- During the bid process, prepare transmittals, distribute plans, specifications, and addenda to subcontractors.
- Plan detailed quantity surveys and complete scope
- Prepare master budgets and cost models for projects.

- Discuss with employers, suppliers, or other involved parties to review estimates and resolve issues

- Contacts suppliers, vendors & manufacturers to identify material and equipment pricing to support the estimate
- Estimating to include plumbing, or HVAC piping, and sheet metal
- Value engineering
- Submits for bid bonds as required
- Assists project managers and head estimator with putting together estimates and pricing
- Participates in pre-bid meetings, bid strategy meetings, and post-construction meetings as requested
- Develops positive relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and fellow employees
- Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
- Determining what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
- Compiling labor and material estimates
- Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors
- Managing bids from vendors and contractors
- Using bid data to prepare detailed a cost analysis
- Presenting prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders
