Ethics and Mission Integration Director incorporates the organization's mission, values, and philosophies into the operations, policies, and goals of the organization. Directs and develops education and training programs for employees and the community that communicate and reinforce the organization's value driven mission. Being an Ethics and Mission Integration Director reviews patient care outcomes and issues to ensure alignment with the organization's mission and ethics. Advises leaders with strategic planning and decision-making to ensure ethics and values are considered. Additionally, Ethics and Mission Integration Director typically requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Ethics and Mission Integration Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Prep Director of Mission & Culture

  • Position Purpose: The Prep Director of Mission & Culture shapes and sustains school culture to ensure the school fosters a deep sense of belonging for all members and leads programmatic efforts that foster greater equity, inclusion, and access within the Prep community.

    Specific Expectations for Prep Faculty & Staff: In addition to regular teaching and duties, the following duties and responsibilities are expected as part of the faculty/staff workload: chaperoning, community responsibilities, professional development and trainings, classroom substitution, holding office hours, proctoring exams, admission interviews, and attendance of, or participation in, mandatory meetings and/or events (e.g. Director's Day, open houses, Schools' annual auction), as required and directed by your supervisor. All employees will be paid appropriately and according to current law. In the case you are required to work outside of your normal work schedule, non-exempt employees will receive overtime pay, as eligible.

    Essential Duties:

    Leadership/Administration
    • Serve on the Prep (Cor) Leadership Team to be a resource to and collaborate with other Prep administrators.
    • Serve on and coordinate with other members of the P-12 DEIA Team within the Office of Mission, Culture, and Strategy (Student Services Coordinator, Family Services Coordinator, Sophie's Scholars Director, P-8 Mission and Culture Director) to identify and work to support cross-campus DEIA needs and priorities.
    • Serve on the Preparatory hiring team.
    Climate and Belonging
    • Guide and support the development of a bias-related incident education, reporting, and response protocol for the Preparatory.
    • Administer, analyze, and share student demographic and belonging data.
    • Support the Preparatory Restorative Justice Team (Prep Counseling, Prep Deans, P-8 Deans, P-8 Mission & Culture, OMCS Student Services Coordinator) in its ongoing implementation of Restorative Justice Practices.
    Students Programs/Support
    • Oversee and continue to build out the Student Affinity space program through developing student and adult leadership, coordinating affinity events, and facilitating the student affinity leadership body (SURJ).
    • Serve on the Preparatory Restorative Justice Team in providing interventions (Tier 2 and Tier 3 responses) in moments of harm.
    • Organize and select-in collaboration with the Student Services Coordinator-students who will be eligible to attend the annual NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC)
    • Upon request, provide consultation to Counseling, Deans, Academic Department, and OMCS teams in response to student case management and bias-related incident needs.
    • Collaborate with the Admission Office around recruitment events, student/family interviews, and new family/student welcome.
    • Manage after school academic support program (e.g., Homework Club) for OMCS students
    • Develop DEIA-related strategic priorities for student-facing programs.
    Educator Programs/Support
    • Collaborate with the Assistant Principal of Instruction & Faculty Development to identify DEIA-related professional growth priorities and create and/or curate professional growth programs for Preparatory educators.
    • Identify, design, develop, and implement training for educators as it relates to culturally responsive pedagogy and curriculum and equity-centered practices.
    • Support and facilitate ongoing implementation of Ethnic Studies course and program at the Prep.
    • Support educators in evaluating and refreshing curriculum from a DEIA perspective.
    Families
    • Work with the Preparatory Parents' Association to foster belonging and inclusion among Preparatory families.
    • Facilitates the resolution of concerns regarding DEIA programming, as appropriate.
    • Collaborate with the OMCS Family Services Coordinator to provide programming and settings of belonging to families of first-generation students.
    Teaching
    • Teach the equivalent of one section of a course/year.
    Required Qualifications
    • BA Degree, with a preference for an Advanced Degree in an appropriate field.
    • A strong knowledge of and commitment to current and developing research on issues concerning DEIA trends in secondary schools.
    • At least 3 years of experience in student-facing DEIA work at the middle, high school, and or/university level.
    • Demonstrated experience in successfully identifying needs for, developing, and implementing student-centered programs with a DEIA orientation.
    • Demonstrated experience working with student populations that are historically marginalized/underrepresented (e.g., low-income, first-generation, racially/ethnically diverse) in the context of higher education and independent schools.
    • Training and experience as a practitioner and in implementing Restorative Justice practices.
    • Experience supporting / coaching teachers to engage in culturally responsive education.
    • Commitment to Sacred Heart Atherton's Mission and educational philosophy-as evidenced in Sacred Heart's Goals and Criteria and its identity as an independent, Catholic school.
    • The ability and commitment to ground DEIA perspectives and work in the school's Mission and Goals and Criteria, as well as in Catholic Social Teaching (CST).
    • Strong cultural competency regarding transgender and gender non-conforming youth.
    • Strong interpersonal skills characterized by clarity, warmth, and humor that allows one to listen and respond well to individuals of diverse identities (racial/ethnic, socio-economic, gender, etc.) and roles (e.g., students, families, employees).
    • Demonstrated experience working in collaborative settings and in guiding teams.
    • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend events
    • Strong organizational and planning skills.
    • Outstanding written and oral communication in English.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience developing curriculum/programs for and/or teaching Ethnic Studies.
    • Strong commitment to data-informed decision making.
    • Ability to teach and/or develop curriculum and practices across academic disciplines.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
    Physical Requirements and Work Environment
    • Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and varied/diverse array of contacts.
    • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
    • Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lb.
    • Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office/classroom environment.
    • Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
    • Ability to regularly travel comfortably and safely over the 64-acre campus.
