SUMMARY OF POSITION
In accordance with the mission and values of The Village of St. Edward, the Director of Spiritual Care and Mission Integration provides leadership in assuring pastoral and religious services for the residents, families and staff are conducted meeting with the mission and core values of the organization. The individual develops, implements and performs high quality spiritual care programs with the Spiritual Care Team, Chaplain(s) and Administrator(s) to support the spiritual needs of both religious and lay residents.

Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree in theology or related field preferred
- Training and/or experience in developing spiritual programs and services; three years prior experience preferred.
- Experience in working with elders preferred
- Experience in a Catholic healthcare setting preferred
- Conversant with Catholicism; a demonstrated familiarity with a diversity of spiritualities; the knowledge and ability to work effectively within the framework of the Catholic Church;
- Preference is for a candidate of the Catholic faith tradition; exceptions include candidate’s ability to be supportive of the Catholic heritage and practices of the ministry, and with experience in Catholic healthcare.
- Current certification through NACC or APC preferred
- Must have sincere desire to work with older adults.
- Must understand the spiritual, social, psychological and recreational needs of older adults on a continuum of care campus and must be able to plan and organize spiritual activities geared to these needs.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm and must be able to work effectively with people.
- Must possess strong organization and verbal and written communication skills.
- Specific knowledge of Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer.
- Possess the ability to bend, stoop, and reach at different angles.
- Walk, stand and sit intermittently during the day.
- Is required to be constantly alert for possible injuries to residents.
Essential Duties (not an all inclusive list):
- Develops and implements high quality spiritual care services for residents at all levels of care.
- Works in conjunction with Leadership to maintain history and culture of organization throughout all The Village of St. Edward communities.
- Works with spiritual care team to support spiritual needs within all The Village of St. Edward communities.
- Provides pastoral and spiritual support to residents, staff and families as scheduled or desired.
- Visitation to campus residents on-site, in other facilities and/or in the hospital.
- Visitation and delivery of Perpetual Mass Enrollment to wakes or mail them to families of deceased campus residents.
- Visit residents individually as scheduled or desired, praying as needed; provides for the spiritual needs of all denominations..
- Works with Volunteer Coordinator to develop spiritual volunteers to assist with programs.
- Assist with staff development such as in-services on end-of-life issues, religious life, and spiritual needs of the residents.
- Cultivates spirituality and works with leadership and work teams to ensure mission integration is a strategic element within their respective work areas.
- Ensures key elements of Catholic identity and mission in organization culture and promotes mission integration.
- Supports, counsels and provides guidance for the residents, families and staff, including crisis and disaster intervention, bereavement counseling, guidance in ethical decision making, mediation for conflict resolution and worship, prayer and devotional programs.
- Acts as a Eucharistic Minister, leads weekly Bible Study and visits residents on a daily basis, praying when needed and/or bringing communion to Catholic residents when in room and request this Sacrament.
- Establishes a trusting pastoral relationship with residents that create a rapport to allow residents’ personal issues to be addressed.
