The Workers Compensation / UE Specialist is responsible for working with injured employees, managers and care teams to facilitate a fast and safe return to work, whether back to the employee’s original position or in a modified duty position.
Reports claims and updates to the TPA for proper claims handling in accordance with applicable laws. Completes and maintains all OSHA documentation for the network as required for year-end reporting.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Manages the Worker’s Compensation Program according to established criteria and assures that a case management approach is established for all worker’s compensation claims.
Maintains ongoing communication with TPA and reviews all claims as need with claims personnel.Works closely with treating providers to assure that a plan of care is established with realistic goals and target dates for return to work emphasizing an early return to work and an aggressive use of light duty.
Works closely with the Worker’s Compensation Manager to ensure that legal counsel is brought in when appropriate and assists counsel on any litigated claims.
May attend WC hearings as needed.Maintains close communication with the injured employee, manager, medical providers and TPA.
Works closely with Human Resources Directors at all entities, Managers, Supervisors and Clinical Coordinators to facilitate and address opportunities for modified duty return to work.
Completes and submits all Unemployment Claims, network-wide, to ensure timely and proper filing of documents to the state.
Advises Manager and entity HR Directors of upcoming hearings and / or required phone interviews as requested by the state.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS : Requires sitting for up to eight hours per day, one to two hours at a time. Standing for up to one to two hours per day.
Must have the ability to hear as it relates to normal conversation, seeing as it relates to general, peripheral and near vision, visual monotony.
EDUCATION : High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred.TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE : A minimum of 1-2 years of Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation experience with direct adjudication, supervision, and administration of workers’ compensation claims with an insurance company, TPA or self-insured company.
