Executive Compensation Manager is responsible for the analysis and administration of executive compensation programs, annual and long-term incentive programs, and deferred compensation plans. Provide consultation on executive compensation matters to senior executives and human resources. Being an Executive Compensation Manager oversees the preparation of compensation data for proxy disclosure and compensation committee meetings. Assists executive directly or engages/manages outside consultants with tax matters related to compensation. Additionally, Executive Compensation Manager directs the salary survey process and evaluates market data for executive positions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. May require Certified Compensation Professional. The Executive Compensation Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     The Arc Eastern Connecticut has three micro-enterprises that require extensive skills in three widely varying consumer markets. These businesses need an infusion of consumer marketing skills and operations expertise to meet Arc expectations and growth requirements. The ideal candidate will be a high energy, creative and critical thinker who desires to serve as a change agent as The Arc seeks to maintain and develop a culture of excellence for continued success in support of The Arc’s mission.


    The General Manager will supervise 3-4 direct reports and provide planning, supervision, and support to assigned staff in order to ensure that individuals are appropriately placed in employment opportunities that will enrich their quality of life through training, instruction, and inclusion techniques and will adhere to the policies established by The Arc Eastern Connecticut, Inc. Board of Directors whose goal is to maintain full community inclusion and integration for all individuals who are supported by The Arc Eastern Connecticut.


    The Arc Eastern Connecticut places a premium on candidates who share a “passion” for the mission of providing opportunities for equality and inclusion for people who have Intellectual and Development Disabilities (IDD). The Arc ECT team believes that individuals with IDD can master essential skills and tasks within a reasonable time period for that individual.

    The Executive General Manager will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.


    Essential Job Requirements:

    As a member of the Leadership Team the Executive General Manger will:

    • Effectively market products and build customer base and sales volume.
    • Establish goals and objectives for each community enterprise unit.
    • Oversee the daily workflow of enterprises. Schedules and assigns staff to ensure efficient operations and optimal customer experience.
    • Ensures health & safety and job training strategies that optimize the experience of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in training situations and also in job placement.
    • Ensures physical maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and attractiveness of all store facilities.
    • Collaborates with Leadership Team to develop and implement budgets, sales goals, marketing strategies, and promotions.
    • Assesses periodic financial reports, evaluates performance against goals and implements improvements and changes as required.
    • Assesses the effectiveness of processes and works with Leadership Team to maximize the efficiency of operations.


    Cookie Factory:

    • Creates and implements quality control measures on all products.
    • Develops and/or implements inventory control. Tracks sales, replacements, donations, and damaged goods.
    • Ensures inventory is stocked and consistently replenished; conduct a physical inventory count as requested.
    • Communicates effectively with the finance department on sales and inventory levels and all process changes.
    • Ensures Dept of Health Standards are met and maintained for all products.
    • Identifies and studies trends to gain advantages in the industry.

    Donation Station:

    • Works with Leadership team to promote bins.
    • Builds relationships within the community to promote our mission.
    • Implements strategies to maximize donations vs redemptions.
    • Captures data on redemptions and donations for financial analysis.
    • Monitors the effectiveness of donation bins placed in the community.
    • Identifies and studies trends to gain advantage in the industry.
    • Accelerate existing program for placement of bins.

    Emporium:

    • Develops pricing strategy for donated goods to maximize return.
    • Creates and implements quality control measures on all products.
    • Ensures inventory is stocked and consistently replenished; conduct a physical inventory count as requested.
    • Builds relationships within the community to promote our mission.
    • Identifies and studies trends to gain advantage in the industry.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Oversees staff. Conducts customer outreach as needed.
    • Recruits, hires, and trains staff in partnership with HR and CEO.
    • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
    • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
    • Plans for excellence, quality, and profitability in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer and Marketing personnel.
    • Makes necessary accommodations to ensure success of workforce.
    • Develops metrics, milestones, and goals for employees; ensures goals are met.
    • Performs other related duties as required.
    • Attends meetings as required.
    • Attends professional development as required.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Establish the business strategies to capitalize on the potential of The Arc’s three micro businesses and translate these into short- and long-term plans and forecasts. For example, prepare the growth strategy for the cookie business and detailed production, facilities, distribution, and marketing programs.
    • Ensures confidentiality as required by law and The Arc Eastern Connecticut and DDS policies and procedures which includes keeping records, conversations, correspondence (regarding programs, individuals, and staff) confidential.
    • Other duties may be designated to maintain service quality.

    • Works with limited supervision.
    • Ensures confidentiality as required by HIPAA policies.
    • Advocates for and protects program individuals’ rights in accordance with The Arc Eastern Connecticut policies and procedures.
    • Treats all individuals in an age-appropriate manner, with respect and dignity, and to encourage opportunities that promote choice and independence.
    • Maintains a professional and positive attitude when dealing with program individuals, staff, families, the public, and outside representatives.
    • Works with a spirit of cooperation with all departments.
    • Carries out all job responsibilities in a professional manner.
    • Attends all agency staff meetings and training sessions.
    • Keeps their required training up to date.
    • Maintains attendance. Adheres to policies on attendance, days of absence, and illness.
    • Keeps director informed of any significant events or the need to modify any area of the operation/activity.
    • Serves as a positive and appropriate role model for program individuals and staff.
    • Provides advocacy for individuals based on their personal choice and their individual plan.
    • Develops and maintains positive relationships with individuals, their families, and providers.
    • Responds to needs of individuals, families, and providers in a timely and professional manner.
    • When using a personal vehicle for work purposes, will drive in a safe and conservative manner and will maintain valid licenses and insurance coverages.

    Required Trainings:

    • Will participate in all DDS and The Arc Eastern Connecticut trainings as required by policy.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration required. Advanced degree preferred. Five years of related experience required.
    • Minimum five years of related experience required. Profit and Loss experience required. Applications from retirees are welcome.
    • The Employment Opportunities Coordinator must have a valid driver’s license. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment. Will be required to obtain and maintain CPR, PMT, First Aid, and other pertinent certifications throughout the duration of their employment.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Circumstances may require lifting and/or assisting people with transfers, and behavioral or physical intervention when necessary. May be exposed to risk of injury or exposure to occupational health hazards.

    Job Type: Full-time


    Schedule:

    • Monday – Friday
    • 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with salaried oversight as needed.

    Ability to commute/relocate:

    • Norwich, CT & Woodstock, CT: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
