Develops and tests recipes and sources ingredients to create unique pastries and baked goods. Being a Executive Pastry Chef creates dessert menus that complement meal offerings, appeal to diners and maximize profits. Follows all applicable guidelines and regulations for food handling and safety. Additionally, Executive Pastry Chef maintains a clean and orderly workstation and kitchen equipment. May require an associate degree in culinary arts or equivalent. Typically reports to an executive chef. The ideal candidate for this position has had prior experience in a fine dining food setting. This candidate will be responsible for the pastry program needs for Max's Tavern, located next to the Basketball Hall of Fame. This Max location focuses on finer dining. This pastry chef should be able to produce a seasonal menu that wows the guest. Additional culinary training/coursework is a plus. Commitment to the customers, reliable to his or her co-workers, and be a self-motivated, organized, and detailed individual is a must. Effective oral and written skills, good time management skills, and professional dress, and behavior are all required for this position.
The Pastry Chef will work independently, with the input of the Executive Chef and Managing Partner to provide a creative culinary experience for our guests while following the food and safety procedures of the restaurant. The pastry chef will be responsible for but not limited to: all house made desserts, house made oyster crackers and specialty desserts for private events. The candidate will have a passion for creativity, working with local farmers to secure seasonal ingredients to be used in the dishes. Ability to work independently, with little direction and produce high quality, flavorful and unique items for the menu.
