Commonpoint Queens seeks a Ukrainian Support Case Manager to provide resettlement, integration and other social inclusion services to Ukrainian Humanitarian Parolees (UHPs) through the Preferred Communities (PC) Ukrainian Supplemental and Matching Grant (MG) programs. This position will provide linguistically and culturally-appropriate services in compliance with the requirements of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and report to the Ukrainian Response Program Manager. Ukrainian language fluency is required, and Russian language fluency is strongly preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Receives comprehensive training on the Preferred Communities Program Expansion in Support of Ukrainian Parolees, Matching Grant (MG), and other programs for which UHPs are eligible.
● Receives and responds to phone and email inquiries from Ukrainians in the New York City area seeking support in the United States or for their Ukrainian relatives abroad.
● Conducts outreach to identify eligible Ukrainians, including through outreach to Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) sponsors, Ukrainian families and local community-based organizations.
● Performs initial screening to identify needs, assess whether Ukrainian families are in safe situations and prepare a family self-sufficiency plan.
● Refers eligible individuals to internal and external resources, including employment services (MG or Refugee Social Services Program), intensive case management (PC), mainstream public benefits, refugee health screenings, ENL providers and more.
● Assists with applications for Social Security cards, Employment Authorization Documents, driver’s licenses, and school enrollment.
● Conducts ongoing check-ins and follow-ups with eligible individuals for up to 90 days after initial intake and assessment.
● Provides case management for UHPs enrolled in MG for the duration of the 8-month program period.
● Assesses need for and distributes emergency assistance for housing and other immediate needs.
● Conducts community outreach and coordination in order to connect newly arrived Ukrainians in the New York City area to resources or organizations that can support their basic needs as possible.
● Collaborates with Commonpoint Queens’ Volunteer Services team to support Ukrainians in the NYC area through in-kind donations or volunteer career mentorship, ENL tutoring, or interpretation.
● Oversees volunteer interns as needed.
● Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
● Undergraduate degree required.
● 1-2 years of relevant experience.
● Fluency in Ukrainian required; fluency in Russian strongly preferred.
● Previous experience in refugee resettlement, social services and/or immigration law strongly preferred.
● Experience with low-income, limited English, vulnerable immigrant populations preferred.
● Knowledge of NYC social service organizations and resources for basic needs of needy New Yorkers desired; familiarity with NYC Ukrainian grassroots organizations helpful.
● Ability to supervise interns and volunteers as needed.
● Strong oral and written communication skills.
● Ability to prioritize and multi-task several urgent projects in a fast-paced environment.
● Excellent computer skills, including experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Office and Google applications (Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, Docs, Sheets, etc.).
