Executive Steward oversees staff responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen(s) or other food preparation areas. Assists in cleaning equipment or food preparation areas as needed. Being an Executive Steward is responsible for inventory control and kitchen equipment, item management. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations. Additionally, Executive Steward may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Executive Steward supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Executive Steward typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Kitchen Steward is to ensure that all guests have an excellent experience while performing kitchen duties related to maintaining kitchen work areas, restaurant and kitchen equipment, and utensils.
Washes all wares including pots, plans, flatware, and glasses, by hand or using dishwashers.
Correctly places and stores clean equipment, dishes, and utensils in assigned storage areas.
Stocks serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and other assigned areas with necessary dishes and utensils.
Cleans trash receptacles with water or steam.
Moves dishwashing supplies and equipment from storage to work area by hand or using hand trucks.
Ensures work areas remain safe, clean, and orderly, adhering to all company, local, and state guidelines regarding health, safety, and sanitation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Ability to understand and follow directions.
Ability to understand and meet restaurant standards for health, safety, and excellence.
Ability to remain alert and focused in an environment that is noisy and fast-paced.
Ability to work effectively with kitchen staff.
