Executive Steward oversees staff responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen(s) or other food preparation areas. Assists in cleaning equipment or food preparation areas as needed. Being an Executive Steward is responsible for inventory control and kitchen equipment, item management. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations. Additionally, Executive Steward may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Executive Steward supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Executive Steward typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems;
however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 F) and kitchens ( 110 F), possibly for one hour or more.
Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 6 hours per day. Walking and standing are required during the rest of the working day.
Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
