Executive Steward oversees staff responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen(s) or other food preparation areas. Assists in cleaning equipment or food preparation areas as needed. Being an Executive Steward is responsible for inventory control and kitchen equipment, item management. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations. Additionally, Executive Steward may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Executive Steward supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Executive Steward typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. The Executive Steward at Tappan Hill is responsible for all back of the house operations, including stewarding, equipment maintenance & inventory, sanitation, safety, and cleanliness for Tappan Hill and Loading Dock. The Executive Steward must independently manage his/her department efficiently and cost effectively. Executive Steward must work closely with the Executive Chef, back of the house and front of the house managers in planning, managing day to day operations, and in promoting company mission, culture and philosophy.
