Executive Steward oversees staff responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen(s) or other food preparation areas. Assists in cleaning equipment or food preparation areas as needed. Being an Executive Steward is responsible for inventory control and kitchen equipment, item management. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations. Additionally, Executive Steward may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Executive Steward supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Executive Steward typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Responsibilities:
- Assist in the overall management of the kitchen and dining areas
- Coordinate and supervise the work of kitchen staff and other stewards
- Ensure proper food service management, including food safety, food production, and food preparation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas
- Assist with inventory control and ordering supplies
- Train new employees on kitchen procedures and protocols
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints in a professional manner
- Collaborate with the assistant manager to ensure smooth operations
- Operate POS systems for order processing and payment handling
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and food service management
- Excellent team management and leadership skills
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in conducting interviews and evaluating potential candidates
