ABOUT THE ROLE
As a key member of Global Safety and Regulatory Affairs (GSARA)'s Regulatory Information and Product Steward team, the Associate, Regulatory Product Steward is responsible for working with battlegrounds and project teams to achieve success through development and execution of global regulatory and registration plans for all products which meet country level requirements.
This role is a core member of the global project teams who will provide guidance on regulatory requirements and is the main interface with our global business partners.
The Associate, Regulatory Product Steward not only supports the product development teams but also monitors internal end-to-end GSARA activities (registration compliance activities, registration test requirements, raw material processes, formula review processes, finish goods processes, human test reviews, escalating issues, etc.).
The Associate, Regulatory Product Steward supports and, in some cases, assists development of self-service materials and supports training of key cross functional experts.
These functional experts will need to understand applicable product regulatory strategies, registration timing, regulatory information, and be connected to the relevant local registration specialists for each project.
The Associate, Regulatory Product Steward is the overall point of contact for regulations across SC Johnson's diverse product portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide regulatory and compliance insight for products in strategic markets to guide teams and identify potential roadblocks, while developing subject matter expertise
Seek guidance, when needed, and communicate appropriate registration strategies and global dossier development to ensure data encompasses as many countries as possible
Manage the process, under the guidance of senior stakeholders, for the GSARA clearance processes for raw materials, formulas, finished goods and human testing requirements according to established procedures.
Ensure that the relevant GSARA Functional Expert and Local Compliance are assigned to the request. Proactively identify potential issues and ensure timelines are met.
Resolve any issues through collaborative problem solving with cross-functional stakeholders
Ensure project teams are following principles of speed to registration using internal registration compliance activities
Inform business on relevant registration requirements by maintaining and providing access to GSARA materials, including project tables and country one pagers
Maintain tracker for overall GSARA project health and encourage teams to submit reviews to allow for full-service level agreement timings within a project's overall timeline
Facilitate discussion on Registration Test Requirements to ensure robust data is generated to secure global registrations for countries in scope
Provides proper classification of products per Hazardous Materials / Dangerous Goods Regulations
Advanced Level Duties and Responsibilities
Due to different regulatory frameworks between SC Johnson's businesses, the Associate, Product Steward will have the opportunity to focus on one area and over time transition to other areas of focus depending on areas of interest
Develop an understanding of battleground strategy and the specific objectives of all projects. Work with the battleground to determine if a registration strategy is applicable and enable a strong position with registrations in key countries
Collaborate with GSARA functional experts / regional team members to summarize and analyze new regulations and emerging regulatory trends.
Inform battleground of these updates
Support strategic regulatory initiatives that require knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
A bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or other related science and at least 1 year of experience in the consumer products (or related) industry, or master's degree with no experience
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements, such as US EPA-FIFRA, TSCA or US FDA
Strong organizational and communication skills, ability to digest and summarize data, and communicate regulatory issues to colleagues outside of regulatory functions
Tech savvy; effectively utilize web-based and internal databases / systems such as SAP PLM, third-party electronic regulatory data sources such as UL, ChemAdvisor's LOLI, and Microsoft Office
Effective prioritization, basics knowledge of project management concepts, how to apply it and critical thinking skills, with the ability to bring project to conclusion
Ability to summarize and communicate complex issues to business partners
Dangerous goods / Hazardous materials certification (DOT, IMDG, IATA, TDG) is not required but is preferred
