Executive Steward oversees staff responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen(s) or other food preparation areas. Assists in cleaning equipment or food preparation areas as needed. Being an Executive Steward is responsible for inventory control and kitchen equipment, item management. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations. Additionally, Executive Steward may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Executive Steward supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Executive Steward typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Position Summary

    Responsible for supervision and the completion of cleaning the dishes, kitchen areas, food preparation equipment and utensils of all aspects of stewarding at Chinook Winds Casino Resort.    

    Essential Functions

    • Supervises the stewarding crew to ensure completion of assigned tasks in a timely and responsible manner.
    • Stocks supplies such as food and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, hot and cold buffets, and refrigerators.
    • Operates washing equipment including dish machines, pot washer and presoak tank.
    • Washes dishes, pots, cookware, utensils, and other equipment.
    • Places clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas.
    • Sorts and removes trash, placing it in designated pickup areas.  
    • Cleans garbage cans with water or steam.
    • Assists in the implementation of training to all F&B staff as required.
    • Monitors staff performance to ensure Chinook Winds customer service standards are achieved.
    • Provide input or recommendations for improvements and/or changes in processes or services.
    • Manages employees during the shift and ensures appropriate professional standards of behavior, work standards, productivity, practices, and customer care are enforced. 
    • Maintains effective communication within the team and attends meetings and training sessions when required.
    • Ensures that F&B operations are in compliance with Chinook Winds policies and procedures.
    • Assigns duties, responsibilities, and workstations to employees in accordance with work requirements.
    • Performs personnel actions such as hiring and firing staff, consulting with other managers as necessary.
    • Recommends measures for improving work procedures and worker performance to increase service quality and enhance job safety.
    • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of goals, objectives, programs, promotions, budgets, policies, and procedures.
    • Develops and maintains a teamwork environment.
    • Completes, monitors, and develops staff through evaluation and development plans.
    • Trains employees in designated areas and monitors progress.
    • Provides input or recommendations for improvements and changes in program processes or services.
    • Identifies & reports any irregular, unsafe or hazardous conditions.
    • Performs all duties in accordance with Chinook Winds Casino Resort customer service standards.
    • Handles all personnel issues in a timely manner according to Chinook Winds policies and procedures.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Education

    High School Diploma or GED.

    Experience

    One year of experience as a Dish Machine Operator.

    One year of supervisor experience required.

    Computer Skills

    Microsoft Office intermediate level including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    Certificates & Licenses

    Must obtain a Siletz Tribal Gaming License.

    Must have a Food Handlers Permit before the start date.

    Other Requirements

    Knowledge of regulations governing food preparation, safety, and service preferred.

    Work will take place in a busy kitchen supporting multiple restaurants and convention centers with multiple distractions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The environment is subject to smoke and the associated affects.

    Conditions of employment include passing a pre-employment drug screen, a background investigation, and completing a 180-day introductory period.
