Exercise Physiologist develops, implements, and evaluates exercise programs for patients. Conducts testing that assesses cardiovascular and metabolic effects of exercise for cardiac and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Being an Exercise Physiologist follows testing protocols and selects appropriate testing protocol for the patient. Monitors patient during testing. Additionally, Exercise Physiologist calculates and records testing results. Coordinates with cross-functional patient care teams. May design exercise prescriptions, instructional materials, home exercise guidelines, and discharge instructions. Conducts exercise training sessions for patients. Requires a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology. Typically reports to a manager. The Exercise Physiologist work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: To prescribe, lead, and modify exercise for persons with medical limitations, especially cardio-respiratory and related diseases. Assists in the education of patients, other health professionals and the community at large. Job is performed appropriately for the needs for the age population served, as defined in the department’s scope of service.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Internship in area of cardiac reconditioning strongly preferred.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Exercise physiologist – master’s degree in exercise science or related field, will consider bachelor's degree in process of advancement.
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
State License strongly preferred
BLS certification.
HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Medical records without limitation both paper and electronic, patient demographics, lab and radiology results, patient information related to surgery or appointment schedules, information related to patient location, religious beliefs and/or public health records.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps and linen, PPE, exposure control plans, hand washing, environment of care, patient identification, transports, monitors or observes patients, and monitors clinical alarms.
