Exercise Physiologist develops, implements, and evaluates exercise programs for patients. Conducts testing that assesses cardiovascular and metabolic effects of exercise for cardiac and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Being an Exercise Physiologist follows testing protocols and selects appropriate testing protocol for the patient. Monitors patient during testing. Additionally, Exercise Physiologist calculates and records testing results. Coordinates with cross-functional patient care teams. May design exercise prescriptions, instructional materials, home exercise guidelines, and discharge instructions. Conducts exercise training sessions for patients. Requires a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology. Typically reports to a manager. The Exercise Physiologist work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Job Summary: Exercise Physiologist responsibilities include conducting patient admissions, creating, and updating individualized treatment plans (ITPs) based on patients’ needs and preferences. They will evaluate their patient’s knowledge and understanding while continuing to educate them and their families. They assist with the development of activities relating to outpatient pulmonary cardiovascular rehabilitation (Phase II) Programs, PAD Rehabilitation and Wellness Programs. Our Exercise Physiologist conduct fitness and stress tests and teach safe exercise techniques while leading group classes..
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field. Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology preferred. A minimum of two years’ experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or American Society of Exercise Physiology certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
