Exercise Physiologist develops, implements, and evaluates exercise programs for patients. Conducts testing that assesses cardiovascular and metabolic effects of exercise for cardiac and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Being an Exercise Physiologist follows testing protocols and selects appropriate testing protocol for the patient. Monitors patient during testing. Additionally, Exercise Physiologist calculates and records testing results. Coordinates with cross-functional patient care teams. May design exercise prescriptions, instructional materials, home exercise guidelines, and discharge instructions. Conducts exercise training sessions for patients. Requires a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology. Typically reports to a manager. The Exercise Physiologist work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Exercise Physiologist Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible to develop, implement and coordinate exercise programs for the medical providers to provide to patients after they have assessed the patient's needs and abilities. This position works hand in hand with our medical providers to ensure the best care is provided to the patients. The essential job duties include:
1. Assist and support the medical providers in developing new exercise plans to provide the patient with variety.
2. Work with the medical providers to develop follow up exercise prescriptions following the doctor’s order.
3. Implements strategies to help the patient overcome difficulties and improve performance. Making their time at the clinic as enjoyable as possible and motivating them with their progress and how they are feeling.
4. Counsel patients regarding regular exercise and the benefits they will receive as a result of this exercise.
5. Assist the Medical Providers, including to help clean and organize the treatment areas, to ensure the equipment is all properly maintained and organized for the patients.
6. Assist the patients with their exercises, including modifications where necessary, under the supervision of the medical providers.
7. Assist the Medical Providers in developing and delivering home exercise programs to the patients.
In individual in this position should have a pleasant attitude and have good communication skills.
The ability to do evening hours is a must as we are an out-patient facility.
